This week saw Clive Vale travel to Newenden.

Asked to bat first Newenden wasted no time getting the scoreboard rolling with boundaries coming at a flurry from openers Piper 31 and Harker 12. Matt Bowles 1-39 got Harker to edge behind to stand in keeper Andy Hayes which bought Trail to the wicket who played a near faultless innings. Not even the return of Vale legend Rob Hurrell could break his defences and he finished on 109 not out. Other contributions came from Attwood 18, Morris 12 and Jones 45 not out. Guy Wenham continued his good form with the ball ending with figures of 3-49 with Carl Brook 1-24 taking the only other wicket. Newenden finished on 248-5.

After tea the Vale batsman found that boundaries were also relatively easy to come by on this good batting wicket with contributions from Andy Hayes 48, Ivan Buss 10, Carl Brook 17 and Liam Stamp who played excellently for his 45 runs. Good bowling from Rummery 3-31, White 2-19 and 1 wicket each for Jones, Harker and Piper kept the Vale score in check with the game ending in a draw after Vale finished on 171-8.
