Winning the toss, Vale asked Burwash to bat.

Given the new ball, opening bowlers Robert Potter (2-12) and Liam Stamp (4-39) extracted steep bounce from the wicket and soon made inroads into the Burwash batting order aided by some good catching behind the stumps from Steve Brook and Andy Hayes at slip. Burwash, having been reduced to 51-5 were indebited to opener Pickles (64). He was well supported by Hollamby (19) and Parker-Reed (35). Bowlers Chris Brook (1-28) and Carl Brook (3-30) finished off the Burwash innings who posted a competitive total of 169.

Border went early to opener Atkin. Andy Hayes (44) received some good support from Chris Whiting (17) and at 20 overs remaining, Vale were in a good position having lost just 2 wickets. Wickets then fell at regular intervals and with the loss of three wickets in as many overs, including Carl Brook (22), the match was in the balance. Further pressure was applied When Chris Brook (11) was caught and Guy Wenham (22) was adjudged LBW. It was left to Liam Stamp (29 not out) to hit the winning runs with 1 wicket and 6 balls to spare.
