Having lost the toss for a change, Vale found themselves batting first against Summerdown. Adam Wickens, promoted to opener looked in good touch hitting 24 with fellow opener Andy Hayes (21) who was out of favour on this day with umpire #a# href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quincy_Magoo" target="blank" rel="nofollow"rchev"Mr Magoo"#/a# who adjudged him in front to a ball which wouldn't have hit a third set. New number four batsman Steve Brook (67) and Matt Bowles (22) helped Vale get to competitive total of 171. The pick of the Summerdown bowlers was Twine (5-43) and opener Mullen (2-32).

In reply Summerdown started slowly. No batsman went on to make a big score with Booth (18), Wolley (14), March (27) and Twine (21) scoring the bulk of the runs. Steve Brook continued his good all round performance taking 2-21 off 12 overs with Liam Stamp (3-28), Chris Kirkham (1-21) and Guy Wenham (2-27) taking the other wickets.

Vale couldn't take the last 2 wickets and the game ended in a draw.
