Clive Vale triumphed in a 35-overs-a-side friendly on a very soft wicket at Beckley.
Put into bat, the home side struggled on this bowler friendly track. Matt Bowles (1-13) and Darren Mortimer (0-6 off 7 overs) bowled well up front but the real damage was done by Peter Hopkins (3-5 off 5 overs) and Ivan Buss (5-22 off 5.2 overs). Only Beckley captain R.Howis (35 not out) got into double figures.
Vale started badly in reply and were in trouble on 19-4 before a stand of 38 between James Pilbeam (20) and Chris Brook (20) steadied the ship. Steve Border (14) also chipped in as the visitors made hard work of reaching their target. T.Goodsell (3-28) was the pick of the home bowlers.
