For their latest Sunday adventure, Vale travelled to the lovely setting of Newenden on the Sussex/Kent border.
This presented them with their first problem as one car containing Vale players went the wrong way and another got completely lost.
Put into bat, the visitors started steadily through Chris Thomas (12) and Andy Dobinson (17). When Scott Price (51) came to the crease, the run rate started to accelerate as he made his maiden half century for the club. The late arriving Adam Wickens (41) continued the good work despite the best efforts of father and son duo G.Rummery (3-24) and K.Rummery (4-22).
In reply J.Bourne (27) got off to a bright start as Steve Brook (3-31) and D.Mortimer (0-37) bowled well without a lot of luck whilst the indifferent bounce went some way to explain the high extras total of 43.
Guy Wenham made the two hour journey worthwhile by taking 5-42 to put the Newenden middle order to the sword. G.Rummery (28) tried to stem the flow of wickets until Andy Dobinson finished things off with two wickets for one run.
