On a sunny day and an excellent batting track, Clive vale won the toss and elected to bat probably thinking bowling for 2 and 1/2 hours at Sidleys overseas could see Clive Vale chasing a record score. After losing a wicket in the first over Adam wickens (39) and Carl brook (60) put on a partnership of over 100 to see Vale in a strong position for the first time in a long while, unfortunately any chance of scoring 200 were soon dismissed after both inform players were removed by the good accuate bowling from S. Ramsden 1-8 off 4 and G. Chalk 1-27 off 6. The introduction of J. Bullen (4-20) saw Vale lose wickets in very quick succesion - 3 in 4 balls. Only the big hitting of Chris Kirkham (39) and extras got into double figures and Vale were bowled out for 179.
In reply Sidley's youngsters recovered from losing an early wicket to Darren Mortimer to register their own 100 hundred partnership C. Ramsden (75) and C. O'Conner (35) which put them in a very good position. Unfortunately for Vale, Sidley did not lose as many wickets quicky with new player Keith, Chris Kirkham, Jim Vale and Carl Brook only taking 1 wicket each.
Sidley cruised home with knocks from L. Bryant (23) and G. Chalk (18) to take a 5 wicket victory.
